"Langmu" in Tibetan means a beautiful "fairy". The name is from that there is a stone which looks like a slim beautiful "fairy". In local folk legends, it is said the stone is changed from the slim beautiful "fairy". And there was once a tiger's den hidden in the deep woods behind the temple. In Tibetan language, the den means Dehecang". So the literal meaning of Langmu Temple means that a slim beautiful "fairy" standing in a tiger's den.
The Langmu Temple and Geerdi Temple in Sichuan Province which are opposite each other across White Dragon river once were very famous and were in a great fashion for a long period in history. However, it was a sorrowful pity that the Temple was destroyed in the year 1969. At present, the Temple has been rebuilding year by year gradually.
There is a mountain in front of the Temple, which is looked like a monk's cat. Red cliffs made of grit stones are towering in the east of the Temple and rock peaks are towering in the west of the Temple, which are craggy and rugged. There are very large verdant pine forests down the mountains.

How to get there:
A traveler can go by bus from Lanzhou, Xiahe County, Hezuo County or Ruoergai of Sichuan Province to the place and he will get off at the stop of Langmu Temple and then he need to walk another 3 kilometers before he can visit the temple.
Tips:
1.Accommodations: The lodging fare is about 15RMB per person in the hostel and the lodging fare is about 30 RMB per person in the Langmu Temple hotel.
2.There is a terrace for celestial burial ceremonies around the Langmu Temple. Sometimes the sight will be probably observed. |
