The 2010 International Tibetan Carpet Exhibition kicks off in Xining on June 20.
China's carpet-weaving handicraft has a history of more than 2,000 years and has become one of the rare treasures in Chinese traditional culture. Qinghai-Tibet Plateau area has rich fur and wool sources and the carpet handicraft industry is quite developed there.
In recent years, the Tibetan carpet industry developed quickly and it has played an important role in environment protection as well as low-carbon economy development. Meanwhile, it has become an indispensable part in the their economy.
The 2010 International Tibetan Carpet Exhibition provides the opportunity to order goods, on-the-spot transactions services and exhibits different kind of carpets, raw materials, Tibetan cultural art works, furniture as well as Tangka tapestries. The inheritors of the Jiaya Tibetan carpet intangible culture heritage have presented the production process of carpet weaving, hand spinning and dying.
