Day 1 Shanghai (LD)
Pick up from your hotel and start our Old Shanghai One-day Tour.
Nongtang:
First Stop: Hengmaoli, aka Tibetan South Road No.68, locating in the southwest of the district and between Jinling Middle Road and Ninghai West Road, was built at the end of 19th century. Ku An Li, in 1932, was named after its owner’s name “Heng” and “Mao” so that its present name came out. It covers 1.2 hectares, owning 94 buildings and 3300 residents, including a workshop of Leather Shoes Factory and a subsection of Jianxin Middle School.
Second Stop: Huaihaifang, aka Huaihai Middle Road No. 927, was built in 1924, locating in the northwest of the district and between Ruijin First Road and Chengdu South Road. Its original name was Xiafei Fang while in 1949 it’s renamed cause it’s located on Huaihai Middle Road, covering 1.7 hectares, 199 buildings and 2000 residents.
Shikumen:
Third Stop: Yuyangli, aka the Huaihai Middle Road No. 567 and named Ming De Li before, locates in the north of the district and between Yandang Road and Sinan Road. It was built from 1912-1936, covering 0.3 hectares and owning 33 buildings and 400 residents. Yuyangli No. 6 is the site of Central Organ of Chinese Socialist Youth League. In 1961 it was listed as National Importantly Protecting Unit of Cultural Relic.
After lunch, we will see a modern Shanghai as if we just flied through the time tunnel.
The Bund: Walking through the magnificent architectures on the Fuzhou Road, we will sense the shock of architectural complex. Huangpu River, like a boundary, divides Shanghai into two—old Shanghai and modern one. Standing at the bund as point of division, we will see various of the modern buildings tower into the cloud on the opposite side, which leads you to Manhattan likely.
Second Stop:
Nanjing Road: With the reputation of “Chinese Top One Business Street”, Nanjing Road has always been the must place foreigners visit. Here you can buy anything you want, you name it, they have it. And you can also enjoy kinds of famous snack here.
Third Stop: Climb on the top of The Oriental Pearl TV Tower and see the Shanghai World Financial Center externally, then visit Lujiazui Financial Zone. As a landmark of Shanghai, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, 467.9 meters high, is the highest tower in Asia and the third one in the world, while the highest is Canada's National Tower and the second one is Ostankino Tower in Russia. Shanghai World Financial Center locates in Lujiazui and was finished on Aug. 29th, 2008. At present, it is the second highest at home and third one in the world. Moreover, it is the highest flat-roofed building of the whole world. The building is skyrocketed high with 101 floors above the ground. The overground part as high as 492 meters. After that, drive to Lujiazui Financial Zone, a brand-new modern Shanghai will come to you. So many skyscrapers constructed by the fancy ideas would take you into future.
After dinner, we will take boat on the Huangpu River and enjoy the hug given by the river. In the evening, the light show on the Bund and Lujiazui is splendid, that’s where our tour end.
