Day1 Arrival in Beijing (D)
Our guide will meet you at Beijing Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

Day2 Beijing (B+L+D)
A full-day excursion to the majestic Great Wall, which was built over 2,000 years ago and stretches about 4,000 miles. Have lunch near the wall then go to visit the Sacred Way and the Ming Tomb. It is a grand tomb of emperors in the Ming Dynasty.

Day3 Beijing (B+L+D)
Visit the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. They are the must see attractions whenever you come to Beijing. The Beijing Duck Dinner is served at a famous restaurant followed by a lively Peking Opera performance at the Liyuan Theatre.

Day4 Beijing to Urumqi (B+L+D)
Visit the Niujie Mosque in the morning. After lunch, take flight to Urumqi. Our guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Have a short rest and then you will be guided to the International Grand Bazaar.

Day5 Urumqi (B+L+D)
Visit the Heavenly Mountain and the Heavenly Lake (including the cruise) and then visit the Xinjiang Regional Museum.

Day6 Urumqi to Kashgar (B+L+D)
Take a morning flight to Kashgar. Upon arrival you will go to visit the Id Kah Mosque (the largest mosque in China), Kashgar Grand Bazaar with many ethnic daily commodities and the Handicrafts Street.

Day7 Kashgar (B+L+D)
In the morning you will visit an ancient masterpiece of Uygur Islamic building-Abakh Hoja Tomb. Known as the tomb of Xiang Fei (the only Uygur concubine among the 41 wives of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty), it is the cemetery of a family in the 17th Century. Afterwards the guide will take you to visit the old area of Kashgar City.

Day8 Kashgar to Urumqi to Turpan (B+L+D)
Take a morning flight to Urumqi. Visit the Nanshan Pasture and pay a visit to a local family in yurt. On the way driving to Turpan, you can visit the Wind Power Station (the largest one of its kind throughout Asia).

Day9 Turpan (B+L+D)
Visit the Jiaohe Ancient Ruins, the Emin Minaret and the Astana Ancient Tombs. And also come to see the Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves, the Karez Well and pay a visit to a local family.

Day10 Turpan to Hami (B+L+D)
Take six hours bus ride to Hami then visit the Balikun Grassland (the second largest grassland in Xinjiang Province)and the Balikun Lake. Then go to a local Kazak yurt for an authentic nomad family visit.

Day11 Hami to Dunhuang (B+L+D)
About four hours morning drive to Dunhuang and visit the Mogao Grottoes, the Echoing-Sand Mountain (Mingsha Shan) (enjoy a camel ride in the desert) and the Crescent-Moon Spring (Yueya Quan).

Day12 Dunhuang to Jiayuguan to Lanzhou (B+L+D)
Visit the Dunhuang Museum and Yangguan Pass (a very important stop along the Silk Road) then drive to Jiayuguan to visit the Jiayuguan Pass. You will take an overnight soft sleeper train to the next destination-Lanzhou.

Day13 Lanzhou to Xiahe (B+L+D) (Best visit time is from May to October)
Today you will visit the Binglingsi Thousand Buddha Caves, which is 75km from Lanzhou. It is a treasure of Buddhism built in 420 with over 196 caves, 694 stone sculptures, 81 clay sculptures and over 900 sq.m fresco. Along the way to Xiahe, you will visit the diversified mosques in Linxia, known as the Little Mecca in China.

Day14 Xiahe (B+L+D)
Visit the Labrang Monastery-one of the largest Tibetan monasteries and known as the little Potala Palace and the University for Tibetan Buddism. Afterwards visit the Sangke Grassland and have a Tibetan family visit to experience their hospitality and food.

Day15 Xiahe to Lanzhou to Xian (B+L+D)
Take a morning drive back to Lanzhou then take a flight to Xian.

Day16 Xian (B+L+D)
Visit the world wonder Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, the most significant archeological discovery in 20th Century. In the afternoon, go on to explore the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the symbol of Xian. In the evening enjoy the local flavor-Dumpling Banquet and the Tang Dynasty Dinner Show.

Day17 Xian (B+L+D)
Today you will visit the Great Mosque and the magnificent City Wall and the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. The City Wall was built in the Ming Dynasty and it is the oldest and most complete defensive systems.

Day18 Xian to Beijing (B)
Take a morning flight to Beijing. Then transfer to the international flight to go back home. |
