Situated in the territory of Siziwang Banner, this grassland is 145 kilometers from Hohhot. In Mongolian, the area's name means "the summer resort". Gegentala Grassland consists in typical grassland scenery with vast landscapes and unique geographical features. The grassland scenic site was jointly financed and constructed by the national travel agency and the autonomous region.
There are many local cultural activities available including cavalry reception, a traditional three-skill contest, the experience of the Mongolian lifestyle, entertainment activities, viewing Mongolian customs and performances and the World Nomad Cultural Park. Tourists may have a chance to taste roast lamb, roast gigot, mutton eaten with the hands, a traditional whole sheep feast. They may also enjoy genuine craftworks. On every May 13 of the lunar calendar, the herdsmen hold their traditional “heaps of stones” worship here and every July 25-31 hold a grassland nadamu festival. |
