Tianshui Transportation

Tianshui enjoys a convenient transport. The double track Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway runs through the area from east to west. The national highway G312, which runs from Lianyungang City in Jiangsu Province in the east to Huo'erguosi Port in Xinjiang Province, passes Tianshui. The air transport in Tianshui is also good, with Tianshui Airport (15 km from Tianshui), Jiayuguan Airport (12 km from Jiayuguan City in northwestern Gansu), Dingxin Airport (in Jinta County, 75 km west of Jiuquan Satellite Center in Gansu) and Xiaheqing Airport (in Jiuquan City, Gansu) in and around Tianshui and the scheduled flights leading to all major cities in China.  Highroads in Tianshui extend in all directions and are very convenient.

There are flights to Lanzhou and Xi’an every Tuesday and Thursday at Tianshui Airport, 15 km from the city center.

Train
Railway

Several pairs of trains pass Tianshui Railway Station every day, leading to Urumchi in Xinjiang, Xining in Qinghai, Dunhuang, Jiayuguan and Lanzhou in Gansu, Xi'an and Baoji in Shaanxi Province, Luoyang and Zhengzhou in Henan, Jinan and Qingdao in Shandong, Chengdu in Sichuan, Shijiazhuang in Hebei and Beijing.

Longhai Railroad (Lianyungang in Jiangsu --- Lanzhou in Gansu) passes Tianshui and all trains running eastwards from Lanzhou pass Tianshui. It takes about 6 hours to go from Lanzhou to Tianshui by train. Train T76 (Lanzhou-Beijing) arrives at Tianshui at 16:19. T118/115 (Lanzhou-Beijing) arrives at Tianshui at 14:30. K228/225 (Lanzhou-Guangzhou) arrives at Tianshui at 22:36. K120 (Lanzhou-Xi'an) arrives at Tianshui at 0:09 and 1448 (Lanzhou-Chengdu) arrives at Tianshui at 20:29.

Bus
Highway

National highway G310 and G312 run through Tianshui. Regular buses run between Tianshui and Lanzhou, Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Linxia, Pingliang, Xifeng and Qingyang cities in Gansu. Buses also run to cities in other provinces, such as Xining (in Qinghai Province), Yinchuan (in Ningxia Province), Xi'an (in Shaanxi), Hanzhong (in Shaanxi) and Luoyang (in Henan). In addition, there are tourist buses running between Tianshui and Kongdong Mountain in Pingliang City in Eastern Gansu and Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot in Western Sichuan. Long-distance sleeping cars start at Beidao Bus Station and Tianshui Railway Station for Pingliang City at 18:00 every day. The price is 40 yuan and it takes about 10 hours to get to the destination.

Local Transport
Public buses

It takes about 40 minutes and it costs 2 yuan to go from the square in front of Tianshui Railway Station to Qincheng District, the city center by No. 6 Bus, which starts every 15 minutes. There are several buses running to the scenic spots in Tianshui, such as Maiji Mountain, Xian ren Cliff and Shimen (Stone Gate) Mountain.

Car rentals
Tourists can charter a car to go the scenic spot if no tourist buses have been opened. The starting price for a taxi (Xiali, Lingyang and Qianlima cars) is 4 yuan and that for a minivan taxi is 3 yuan for the first 3 km. It costs 1 yuan for each additional km if the distance exceeds 3 km and it costs 1.5 yuan for each additional km when the distance exceeds 10 km.
