Expo 2010 tickets sales to the public will begin in Japan on July 1 with a sales target of 600,000 tickets.
The Expo organizers have appointed JTB group as Expo 2010's general ticket agent in Japan. Hankyu-travel and other eight Japanese tourist companies have been appointed as sub-agents for tickets in Japan.
Yura Eiyuu of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said at there would be an opening ceremony to tickets sales on behalf of the Japanese Government on June 25. He said Expo 2010 is a big event not only for China but also for Japan, Asia and the World. He said that the Japanese Government and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will spare no effort to prepare the exhibitions in Japan's two pavilions and help the Expo Shanghai organizer with the event.
JTB Executive Director Isao Sekine said during the ceremony that Expo 2010 would be a very good opportunity to learn more about China and JTB will help Japanese people to visit Expo Shanghai.
Expo Shanghai tickets sales in Japan will have two stages: pre-sales and sales during event. There will be standard day tickets and peak day tickets. The prices will range from 2,500 yen (US$26) to 3,600 yen. Three-day tickets costing 7,200 yen and seven-day tickets costing 16,200 yen will also be sold. People over 60, university students and school students will enjoy discounts.
Xu Dimin, the envoy of the Shanghai government and the Expo organizer in Japan, said that Japanese visitors to Expo Shanghai could reach 1 million.
